Carl's Body Shop & Towing
The large glass panes of Carl’s Body Shop were Carl Hounshell’s window to the world – and life’s little mishaps. In 1932, he and his bride moved to Dayton where he first worked at Frigidaire until opening the now famous Carl’s Body Shop location. The neighborhood and its residents were his friends and his shop became an enduring landmark. Throughout the years Carl kept the business a family affair. His son – Jerry Hounshell – has worked 40 years with his father. Daughter, Virginia, began working there when she was just 10 years old. It was there that she eventually met her husband Tom, who worked in the body shop. Carl was still working 10-hour days when he was diagnosed with lung cancer. He succumbed to the disease in 1988. The family was looking for someone to take over the established business, and so enters the new and current owner – Matt Miller. In 1989, there were only six employees and profit of $400,000 a year. Fast forward – 30 employees and $2 million in sales per year.

I would recommend because of excellent work. BUT if they are a victim of an accident by a State Farm Driver... go somewhere else!

The staff who took all of my phone calls were terrific. However Ben was a completely disaster. He told me he would call and never once did. He was rude to me once he got on the phone and in person. The only time he seemed pleasant was the day I picked up my car. Heaven knows I couldn't have been happier to get him out of my life too.

After using Carl’s 4 different times, this was my worst experience. I am taking my car somewhere else to get the tire sensor fixed, which they knew from the phone call that’s what the problem was.. My front plates were not put back on, around the fuel receptacle a foam thing was left which caused my release not to open, and overspray on the back, black runner. Having the car for a little over a month, I heard from the insurance company on updates not them, it didn’t use to be this way.
