The customer service was definitely exceptional, but the vehicle parts are not aligned properly and there is an area on the tailgate that feels rough to the touch like it needs to be polished ir something.

I brought my 2018 Ford Explorer to this repair shop as recommended by the insurance company. When I was notified that my vehicle’s repair was complete, I was informed that the battery was defective and had to be jumped several times just to start the car. This immediately struck me because my husband and I purchased this vehicle just shy of a year ago and have never had battery issues and have never had to jump the vehicle, not even once. When my husband went to pick up the vehicle and looked under the hood, the battery was completely different from the one we dropped it off with. For reference, the repair was only supposed to involve the front right bumper area, so there was absolutely no reason for the battery to be touched. Additionally, there was still visible damage to the right headlight. My husband was told that the headlight repair was not authorized by insurance. The woman we spoke to (I think Ivy?) who claimed to be the manager of this location, immediately argued us down and insisted no one changed the battery, essentially referring to my husband and me as liars, as if we did not know the condition of our own vehicle when we dropped it off. I explained that unless she was watching the repair 24/7, she could not truly attest to what happened. It could have been an honest mishap, or something more sinister, but regardless, the battery was different. The back and forth continued until my husband told her we will not accept the vehicle back with a battery we did not bring it in with and asked her to contact her superiors to rectify the situation. She became upset, stormed off, slammed my vehicle’s door, and yelled, “All this over a $100 battery!” My husband, taken aback, expected someone less emotionally charged to step in and explain next steps. Instead, Ivy’s husband, who is NOT employed by Gerber, came out and threatened to call the sheriff on my husband and told him to leave, despite the gates being closed and preventing him from doing so. I contacted corporate about this absolutely outrageous situation, and the actual manager of the branch, Kevin, reached out and apologized for the incident and Ivy’s behavior. He confirmed that they would replace our battery. My husband picked up the vehicle for the second time, and once I saw it myself at home, I immediately noticed that the headlight damage was still not fixed. I returned to Gerber Collision and Glass, where a gentleman informed me that the headlight repair was not authorized by insurance and that’s why it was not completed. He questioned me whether I thought it was part of the accident, which, of course it was, but told me to “complain” to insurance because there was nothing they could do. After calling insurance, I was informed that ALL repairs were authorized and that Gerber had been compensated to complete ALL repairs. The adjuster escalated the issue, as Gerber is one of their preferred repair partners. Later, insurance contacted me again to explain that they spoke with Ivy, who this time had enough sense to actually speak to the person who repaired the vehicle. That individual admitted they “forgot” to complete that portion of the repair. So at this point, insurance is having us take our vehicle elsewhere to finish the repair. Thank God we had the courage to speak up and escalate this situation. Otherwise, we would have been on the hook for a new battery and a new headlight.
