If you\u2019re going to\nbe driving around on Black Friday, make road safety a priority by using these\ntips.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Plan\nYour Route in Advance<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even if you\u2019re an old hand when it comes\nto Black Friday shopping, it\u2019s still a good idea to plan your day\u2019s route in\nadvance. Use the sales ads the night before to compile a list of targeted\nstores based on these shopping objectives: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Which\nitems you want the most<\/li><li>Which\nretailer opens the earliest<\/li><li>Which\nstores you plan to visit<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When planning your shopping route, try\nto avoid making several trips back and forth across town. Navigation apps like\nGoogle Maps can help you avoid traffic congestion by alerting you about recent\naccidents and other road delays. If you\u2019ve not sure where a given store on your\nshopping list is located, a good navigation app will provide you with\nturn-by-turn directions so you can get there more quickly and safely. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Avoid\nDriving Distractions <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The National Safety Council (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nsc.org\">www.nsc.org<\/a>) warns that shoppers and pedestrians\nget even more distracted on Black Friday. That increases the potential for distracted\ndriving accidents, so please drive carefully by taking these precautions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Never\ntext or talk on your cellphone while driving unless you have a hands-free\ndevice.<\/li><li>Turn\nthe music down.<\/li><li>Obey\nall posted speed limits, especially in construction zones and parking lots.<\/li><li>Be\naware of pedestrians when backing out of parking spaces. <\/li><li>Keep\nyour eyes on the road at-all-times.<\/li><li>Safely\nsecure small children and pets in the back seat. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Don\u2019t\nDrive While Impaired <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s tempting to take the edge off Black\nFriday shopping by having a couple cocktails in between stores.
