Newer vehicles have onboard computer modules\nand sensors that warn you when something\u2019s wrong. But if you drive an older\nvehicle or one with a bad computer chip, there may be no advanced warning\nbefore the engine dies. These common mechanical problems can cause a car\u2019s motor\nto stall: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Bad\nelectrical wiring. <\/strong>Loose\nor corroded electrical connectors interfere with engine performance. Cold weather makes this problem more likely. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Watered-down\ngas. <\/strong>If you buy gas\nwith too much moisture in it, the fuel doesn\u2019t burn properly in the engine,\nwhich then causes it to stop running. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Fuel\npressure problems. <\/strong>If\nthere\u2019s not enough pressure in your engine\u2019s fuel system, it can stall when\ngoing up or down hills. A faulty fuel pump or clogged filter is oftentimes the\nculprit. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\nif My Car Dies? <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When your car stops running remember\nthat it can be replaced, but you cannot be. That\u2019s what auto insurance is for,\nso don\u2019t take chances. Instead, use these safety precautions: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Remain in Your Car<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re not wearing reflective\nclothing, other drivers can\u2019t see you. Don\u2019t exit your vehicle to flag down\npassing motorists or look under the hood. Instead, turn on the emergency\nflashers, call for roadside assistance and remain inside your vehicle. A passing\npolice officer may even see your blinking lights and stop to investigate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Put on a Seatbelt <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rear-end collisions are the most common\ntype of accidents that stalled vehicles are involved in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your vehicle gets hit while you\u2019re\nsitting in it and you\u2019re not wearing a seatbelt, you could sustain serious\ninjuries. To stay protected, make sure that you and your passengers wear your\nseatbelts until help arrives. If you have some ground reflectors with\nyou, get out of your vehicle just long enough to set them up around it.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Resist the Urge to Push <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When your vehicle quits in the middle of\ntraffic or is partially protruding into a lane, it\u2019s always tempting to get out\nand push it to the side of the road.
