My interactions with people at Addison were excellent, and I was very thankful they were able to negotiate with my insurance company (who paid the claim for the catalytic converter theft I’d experienced). My reason for an 8 instead of a 10 though, is I feel that the expense of this repair was way too high (especially if I were to have paid for it myself, instead of insurance paying and I just paid my deductible). I understand shops are in business to make money, and they have expenses, employees to pay, etc… But, to see a ~$1,600 charge just for the aftermarket CARB-compliant catalytic converter itself (when I can go to an auto parts store and buy an aftermarket CARB-compliant one for ~$500), the $1,100 higher price is excessive in my/many peoples’ opinions. In some fairness, they probably used a different brand, but, the cost shouldn’t have been $1,100 more expensive (as the most expensive ones at the auto parts stores are ~$1,000, so even if it was the more expensive one, I could see maybe a $50 markup)… … The total bill was almost $2,400 with other parts, labor and tax… And had my insurance not been willing to pay that claim, that’s how much this would’ve cost me out of my own pocket. Based on the customer service experience I received, and in the previous section I mentioned getting a firm quote for another repair, I’d come back to them (as I feel the price on that other quote is fair), though due to the high costs of the catalytic converter, I don’t see myself raving about them to my friends. They seem to be an honest shop and have great people working for them, though they’re one of the more expensive ones in Denver. With many people in this economy struggling to put food on their tables and gas in their cars, a $2,400 car repair would crush many people. … If my insurance was unwilling to pay, I would not have done the repair with Addison, but would’ve instead bought a $500 one from the auto parts store and paid a friend to weld it for me. In closing, Addison is a good shop and good people, though I feel they need to be fairer on their prices and they’d get a 10 from me.

I made several calls to the shop and spoke with three different people, and each person was very patient with all of my questions. When I went to the shop in person, I met those same people and they interacted well with me, as well as gave me a firm quote for an additional service I asked about. Also getting a ride from Betty, a nice elderly lady who works there, had great conversations with her as she drove me from the shop.
