You did a wonderful job. The Joe Machens organization is a class act. Thank Ryan Volkert for great service, and also thank the people at Joe Machens Jeep for their help the day of the collision.

My Experience

The left-rear quarter panel was not properly aligned with the trunk-lid closure, and thus created a gap visible to anyone looking at the back of the vehicle. The vehicle appeared dirty/dusty on the exterior and not washed or rinsed and properly dryed upon delivery. There was a problem with the instrument panel in the dashboard not properly lighting, but resolved before delivery of the vehicle. This item was discovered by the owner upon delivery, and should have been noticed by someone when driving the vehicle from one location to another. The problem baffled all involved, and a suggestion was made to contact the LOCAL, Machens Toyota dealer for suggestions of how to repair. Finally, after considerable wait time, the matter was mitigated by disconnecting the battery cables and reattaching them to reboot the vehicle's computer system affecting the electrical system. The headlamps were thoroughly cleaned and cleared of any built-up residue and "cloudiness" at no expense to the owner, and this was greatly appreciated. If possible, I think this could easily be an offer made to any customer who has collision work done, and the service staff notice the vehicle having oxidized headlamps. The cleaning of these is time-consuming for the owner, and yet a necessary safety feature to be considered. 50/50 I have had all of my body repairs and other collision work done by one vendor in Columbia. Because Joe Machens Collision was a recommended shop with certain certifications by my insurance company, SAFECO, I trusted that it would be a first-class work, and decided to give Joe Machens a try. I think there is great room for improvement from actual collision work, to customer service on the front-end and back-end of the customer experience with Joe Machens. Overall the work accomplished appeared to be good to the untrained eye, but clearly anyone could see the "gap" between the left-quarter panel and trunk lid closure. Why would any collision repair center allow a vehicle out of their shop with such lack of attention to details like this? Why would a collision repair center not completely freshen and remove to the extent possible the intoxicating paint smells from the interior of the car before delivery to the owner?

There was a slight delay in the return of my vehicle due to issues with drying paint. The dashboard electrical system was off and required a battery reset due to the on-board computer requiring a reboot...this was NOT a problem when the vehicle was delivered to the Collision Center for repairs, but was discovered by the owner when the vehicle was picked up. The left-rear quarter panel was NOT properly aligned with the trunk lid when closing, and has not been fully addressed at this writing on this date.

Customer Service

Mr. Larry Gliser, Service Advisor, was very helpful, knowledgable, and provided excellent communications at every stage of the vehicle's collision repair. He did acknowledge a problem with the left-rear quarter panel and trunk lid closure, and suggested I return with the vehicle for that to be addressed. Mr. Gliser was dumbfounded and conflicted when confronted with the dashboard lights being "out" and the amount of time it was taking to remedy the problem. Since there was no LEXUS dealership in town to call, I suggested that Toyota Service be telephoned, and he looked confused that this was an option to consider. Toyota is also a brand that is sold and serviced by Joe Machens, and just down the road from Joe Machens East Collision Center! The Manager appeared and intervened at this juncture. It would be advisable that all service advisors be thoroughly schooled, oriented and trained to what automobile brands are represented by Joe Machens, so that every effort is made in situations like this to make necessary amends and create remedies for repairs, especially when the customer is waiting, and even moreso when the problem did not exist before the vehicle was assessed or brought in for collision repairs.

My Experience

After the estimate was done everything was smooth. The issue was that the car was towed to your site on Monday AM and we were told an estimate would happen within 24 hours. By Thursday the estimate still had not happened even though my insurance had given the ok to repair. I had to call on Thursday and finally got an estimate on Friday. Honest info upfront would be helpful and would have allowed me to decide whether to wait a week for the estimate or whether to seek repair elsewhere. thanks!
