Lift gate still racked. Doesn’t run up evenly. Bolt underneath lift gate was stripped and almost falling out. Charged insurance $5000 to straighten and replace parts when a new one cost $2600. I ended take it home and spending 3 hours fixing it.

Customer service was the best part of the experience. The receptionist was kind.

If I were running a body shop, I’d approach this very differently. I have a business background, and customer intake is where trust starts. For many people, this may be their first experience with a body shop, and it often follows a stressful or even traumatic event. That’s exactly why communication and retention matter so much. From the start, customers should feel supported and informed. In this industry, people are often without transportation, paying out of pocket, or dealing with insurance stress. Shops should over-communicate—text updates, emails, quick check-ins—just to let customers know where things stand. Even if repairs take longer than expected, transparency builds trust. Customers are literally entrusting you with their primary mode of transportation. The goal should be to start and end with a great impression. A good body shop builds long-term relationships, earns referrals, and makes people want to come back if they ever need service again. Unfortunately, in my case, there were so many avoidable issues that I didn’t even have the bandwidth to focus on the quality of the repair itself. I was too busy dealing with problems that shouldn’t have existed in the first place.

When I got my vehicle back (it’s less than two years old), it immediately had a loud roaring noise that was never there before. The interior smelled overwhelmingly like paint—so strong I had to drive with the windows down, and it still smells like there’s a bucket of paint inside. I have a young child and can’t even put her in the car until the smell dissipates, if it ever does. When I got home and opened the rear hatch, I found a loose car part. After checking under the hood, I realized my intake had not been reinstalled. I ended up reinstalling it myself because I didn’t want more hassle going back and forth. The engine bay was also extremely dirty, with grime and even what looked like animal paw prints, like the car had been left sitting outside or in a dusty area. They did technically repair the body damage, but it felt like the bare minimum. For example, my rim still has visible marks from the hit-and-run that were never addressed. On top of that, the repair was not completed in the timeframe promised—they told me about a week, and it took longer. I called to inform them about the missing intake, and the response was basically to bring the car back. That would mean more time, inconvenience, and potentially more insurance complications, which I’m not willing to deal with. Overall, this experience felt rushed and careless. I wouldn’t return, and I can’t recommend them based on the quality of the work and the condition my vehicle was returned in

Customer Service

I’m very disappointed with the experience at Blue Key West Body Shop / Key West Auto Collision. To be fair, the customer service at the front desk was friendly—the lady there was very nice. However, when issues came up, she didn’t seem to know how to handle them and said she’d have to talk to someone else. The bigger issue was the overall process. When I dropped the vehicle off, no one came outside to inspect it with me. Most body shops walk the vehicle with you to confirm damage in person, but here they mostly relied on photos. At pickup, I was basically handed the keys and rushed out without anyone verifying the work with me, which felt unprofessional and transactional. When I got the vehicle back (it’s less than two years old), it had a loud roaring noise that was never there before. The interior smelled overwhelmingly like paint—so strong I had to drive with the windows down, and it still smells like there’s a bucket of paint inside. That would mean more time, inconvenience, and potential insurance complications, which I wasn’t willing to deal with. Overall, while the staff was polite, the process and workmanship didn’t meet expectations. This is my work vehicle, and if it were my personal car, I would have chosen a different body shop. I wouldn’t return based on this experience.

The truck had a bad odor. It now has an almost nauseating smell of perfume. I'm not sure the bad odor is gone. Only time will tell.
