I recently brought my truck into Caliber Collision Blacksburg to replace the bumper, passenger side mirror, and fix back up camera. I signed the paperwork authorizing Caliber Collision in Blacksburg to do work on my truck before any diagnosis was completed as instructed by Caliber staff. Caliber Collision ordered the parts they thought were necessary while I still had the vehicle including a salvage back up camera. While it took nearly a week to replace the bumper and passenger side mirror after the parts arrived ($200 over the original estimate) they were fixed to my satisfaction. The technicians were unable to fix the problem with the backup camera. No problem I understand. The staff informed me that my back up camera was not the problem and they could not fix it whatever the issue happens to be. However, they went ahead and replaced my apparently working backup camera with the salvage camera they had ordered. I was charged full price, parts and labor for this unnecessary work that did not fix the problem. I spoke with two mechanics since this incident and both claimed this was highly unorthodox and that I should not be liable because Caliber technicians did not diagnose the problem before ordering the part that did not fix the issue. I was told they should have looked into the issue before ordering any parts. This cost of this unnecessary backup camera and labor was approximately $220 which should be refunded. In addition, I was told by Caliber staff that I could leave my rental car at their establishment and they would take care of it. I called Enterprise the next day around noon and said the they had not heard from Caliber and would go get the vehicle immediately. While the two women who working on the evening of Monday 9/9 (when I picked up the truck) were polite, the male working told me that it is irrelevant that my camera is still not working, we ordered the parts and replaced the camera. Just a reminder, the camera was not the problem according to him. He also asked rudely “Did you sign the authorization?”. Once again, I did sign the authorization as instructed by staff before any diagnosis. I did not argue with staff because it was near closing time and I am sure everyone just wanted to go home after a day’s work. I am new to Blacksburg, just moved here in June so I am unaware of which businesses to avoid. Looks like Caliber is one of those businesses

My car was done earlier than expected. They provided updates and news nearly every day. My car had a lot of internal issues and they were able to fix it all in less than a month. They made sure all my warning lights stopped before I came to pick it up.
