Frequest delay in completing the vehicle restoration process. It took over 3.5 months for the work to be done. After the work was supposed to be completed and handed over to us, the vehicle died just away from the shop and there was no coolant in the radiator.

The ordering and reordering and additional ordering of parts took over 4 months to complete the work. The weekly emails telling me my car is not ready, still not ready, further delayed we’re helpful to some degree.

I would only recommend Payless if the customer service was on par with the quality of work. The attitude, in my opinion would be the reason I wouldn’t recommend Payless for repairs to friends or family. If I wasn’t as educated about vehicles and parts (I worked at a dealership in the parts department for many years) I could only imagine how frustrating it is for people who are not.

I am overall pleased with the work on my truck. It looks great, however the process of getting my truck in for work had me entirely frustrated. My appointment was pushed back 2 times, the accident happened in February. My truck was not cleared for drop off until may 9th. During the estimate inspection, the lady told me some parts could be on back order, which I completely understand, however I asked her directly -“ do you if possible use “salvaged” parts?” She told me “no, we are a certified GM repair facility so we have to use new oem gm parts.” The problem I had is my appointment was pushed back 2 times because my grill was on back order, again I understand, but when I spoke with the lady who did my initial estimate about my options the day she called to tell me that my grill was on back order, I was kind of upset. I asked if there was anything else we could do? She said we have to just wait. During the conversation, I was frustrated with the situation, rightfully so, her response was totally unprofessional, “ well we don’t manufacture the parts” she did nothing to help resolve the situation. So I did research and found the grill available online, in about 5 minutes, I called her back and told them that I could get it shipped to my door in 5 days. I got a phone call 5 minutes later, stating “we got notified that your grill has shipped” GREAT NEWS! Or so I thought. She said that it should take 7-10 days to arrive. I understand we live in Alaska. Shipping big items takes time. So I waited. 3 1/2 weeks later I decided to take some time to drive down there to figure out what was going on. I was given the same answer “ we just have notification that your grill is shipped” I said awesome, where is it? can you track it? They said we will call the warehouse. So I waited in the lobby for about 10 minutes or so, she came back out and said “we weren’t able to get a hold of the warehouse, but Northwest auto parts has one, here’s a form authorizing us to use these parts from the scrap yard” at this point I’m beyond frustrated, you mean to tell me, that in March during my estimate when I asked if we could use salvaged parts, the answer I was given was a direct “No” and NOW THERES A FORM!? this repair did not need to take 3 months to schedule. My truck was in the shop all but 5-7 days. But I had to wait that long only to be told about a week before my repair that we can infact use salvaged parts? I know how shipping works. Why can I order something from some tiny town in china and know exactly where the item I ordered is, but you cannot tell me where this large item is? All an item needs says to say “shipped” is a label being created. I can assume the reason why things are taking so long is the bare minimum is being taken by the employee who is “doing estimates” there were 0 solutions provided. I was shocked to find out that this issue could have resolved its self had the lady done her due diligence to make sure the customer is taken care of. I absolutely should not have had to pester them, to the point I started feeling like an annoyance. It was not a professional way to handle this. As far as the repairs I have no complaints. However I think the person writing estimates needs to change her attitude while dealing with customers. From the moment I met her she seemed completely irritated to even be helping me. I think there needs to be someone in that position who is a bit more personal and willing to help customers without the attitude.
