I rated Vinny’s Auto as a 2 out of 10 (unsatisfactory) due to several issues that I experienced. When I dropped the car off, I informed the shop of a inconsistent mechanical banging sound that was happening when the car was started. I also told them that since the accident, the car would pull hard to the right. They informed me that they would have the car aligned-which I see no record of. Wade called me to inform me that a sub contracted mechanics shop informed them of the inconsistent loud banging sound when the car was started-which they were very concerned with. Wade then proceeded to tell me that the shop recommended an oil change, but I would have to pay for it out of pocket. This did not correct the problem. Wade then called me to tell me the repair of the car was completed and I should come pick it up. I was not allowed to inspect the vehicle repairs until after I paid the $500 and the $100+ for the oil change that the mechanic insisted was necessary to troubleshoot the mechanical banging sound. Once I inspected the car, I observed that the fog lights were not operational nor was the remote car start system. The staff was somewhat annoyed that I came back to the office and told me that my vehicle did not have remote start and that the fog lights would not work during daytime hours. The tech eventually made the repairs to the fog lights and the remote start system. While the tech was out making these repairs, he heard the loud mechanical banging sound but just shrugged his shoulders and said he didn’t know. After picking up my vehicle, the flywheel and flexplate broke. I ended up taking to another shop (Ralph’s Transmission Repair) to repair. Upon completion of this repair, the inconsistent loud mechanical banging stopped. AAA insurance found out that the flywheel breaking is somewhat common on these cars and felt that the impact of the deer while going 75mph could not have caused the flywheel to break. The transmission shop felt that an impact this hard certainly would have contributed to this happening. My overall disappointment with Vinnys auto was that they treated me as if I did not know my vehicle, insisted that I pay for troubleshooting issues on the car, claimed they would get the car aligned and appeared to work more for the insurance vs me, the customer. I know the flywheel issue (inconsistent mechanical banging sound when starting the vehicle) is a result of the accident, given that it did not do this prior to the deer impact on the highway. The staff at Vinny’s simply brushed it off-since they felt it would not be covered by the insurance. I understand that Vinny’s auto is in business to make money-but I think they have lost what customer service truly means. Had they had made an effort with the insurance company vs minimizing my concerns, stating they would take care of me and that they would do work that wasn’t done. I will not be returning to Vinny’s auto for future business and I will share my experience with those who ask for recommendations. I will end with this: The body work portion of this process was an 8 out of 10. But given all the other issues-I have settled to a 2 out of 10 for the overall experience. Andy Harkness
