Everything was great except the scratches caused by the cleaning of the car.

While I’m happy with the quality of the work that was assigned to the shop, I noticed scratches all over my vehicle, mostly in the form of swirl marks. I also saw scratches near the door handle. The repair manager assured me that the car was not taken through an automatic car wash and was cleaned in-house. I had specifically asked that the car not be washed due to my concern that this exact issue might occur. This is a new (4-month-old) black CX-5, and I’m certain these scratches were not present before. Even if a dirty cloth was used, or if rain residue was not properly removed before wiping the car, it could cause scratches like these. After checking the dashcam, it appears the car was outside during rainfall in Sunnyvale, and wiping the car afterward without proper cleaning could easily have created these marks. Either way, I’m very disappointed with the condition of my new car with respect to these scratches, and I’m frustrated that the shop has declined to take responsibility.
