My Experience

After picking up the vehicle from the repair shop, we immediately noticed several issues that were either caused by or became apparent following the repairs. The front passenger-side fender and door are now rubbing against each other, which has caused a crease and chipped paint. This issue was brought to the shop’s attention before we ever left the property with the vehicle. Additionally, approximately one hour after picking up the vehicle, we discovered that the radiator had no coolant in it and had to return the vehicle to the shop. The shop has stated that they did not touch the radiator. However, that statement does not appear to be consistent with the repair invoice, which clearly shows that the radiator support brackets were replaced. While I understand that the radiator itself may not have been removed, the documented repair to the radiator support brackets necessarily involved work in the immediate area and contact with components surrounding the radiator. Therefore, the statement that they did not "touch" the radiator or work in that area is misleading. We also brought a new vibration to the shop’s attention. This vehicle did not have a vibration prior to the accident and subsequent repairs. When we mentioned the vibration, Kory stated that he had noticed it when he drove the vehicle. However, this was never disclosed to us when we spoke with the shop or when we initially picked up the vehicle on Friday. It was only acknowledged after we brought the issue to their attention. The shop has also suggested that the vibration could be related to the brakes because brakes had been installed approximately one month before the accident. While we did have brakes installed prior to the accident, there was absolutely no vibration or similar issue with the vehicle before this repair. The vibration appeared after the accident and repair work, which is why we believe it needs to be properly investigated rather than attributed to an unrelated prior repair. There was also an issue with the passenger-side door trim. Kory saw the issue when it was brought to his attention and acknowledged that the incorrect size trim had been installed. We were told this was because non-OEM parts were used. At least in this instance, the shop acknowledged that the part installed was incorrect. The shop has also stated that they never touched the tire. Given the nature of the repairs performed and the issues that appeared afterward, we are concerned about that statement as well and believe the tire, wheel, suspension, and related components should be properly inspected. I am concerned that some of these issues are being dismissed rather than thoroughly investigated. I also want to make it clear that although I am the person communicating about these issues, I am not unfamiliar with vehicle repairs. My husband has 31 years of professional mechanic experience, and my son has approximately 5 years of mechanic experience. We understand that a repair shop may not agree with our assessment, but we also understand the difference between a pre-existing issue and a problem that develops immediately following accident repairs. We are simply asking that the vehicle be properly inspected and that all concerns arising after the repairs be addressed based on the actual condition of the vehicle and the documented work performed—not dismissed without investigation.
