My Experience - 0.0/5.0 -
I usually don't participate in surveys or leave reviews, but I feel that sharing my experience at the Valley Ranch location might (hopefully) provide some insight into their current operations and help to make some improvements. I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews for collision repair shops in the area. I was impressed with the reviews for Cailber Collision - Valley Ranch, and I also have used Caliber Auto Shop on Northpark several times and have been happy with their service, so I went with Caliber Collision. When I arrived to drop off my car, the front was empty, so I rang the bell. A man came out and said he doesn't work the front, but the usual lady was out and he could probably help me. I told him I was there to drop off my car for repairs after being rear-ended. I also had my insurance quote. He went to the back and then Angela came out. She looked at the car, made some marks, gave me the information about the process and I left to get my rental. I dropped off on April 23 and was given a completion date of May 9. On May 9, Angela called and said the vehicle didn't pass her inspection. Some things needed to be fixed, but the vehicle would be ready next Tuesday. Next Tuesday came and I didn't hear from anyone. I called when I got off work and was told that Angela had a family emergency and was out. I ended up being put through to the General Manager. He told me that the tech who worked on my car quit on Monday. When the tech put my vehicle together (before he quit) there was something that happened with sensor on the back that was causing a problem. So, they ordered a new sensor. I was told they would paint it and the vehicle would be ready by Thursday. I told the GM I understood they are having staffing issues, but these issues are causing me unnecessary expenses (car rental) and I would appreciate if the vehicle was fixed by Thursday. He said they would call with an update. Thursday arrived and no call. I called when I got off work and was told that they didn't realize when the tech took off some parts around the tires, he broke all of the clips, so they had ordered new clips and those would be there Friday. They would call with updates. Nobody called. So, Friday when I got off work I called again and was told that the wrong clips arrived. They had ordered the correct clips and those were on the way, according to UPS. I was told the GM would be in working from 10-12 on Saturday, May 17 because there were a handful of cars needing to be picked up. I was told he would call by 10:30am on Saturday to let me know my vehicle was ready. Again, no call. I live 40 minutes away, so I decided to drive in anyway (I called but no answer). When I arrived, a man came out and I let him know I was there to pick up the Nissan Armada. He got the paperwork and pulled my vehicle around. I noticed the Nissan emblem and the Armada emblem were missing from the back. He said those wouldn't be in until Monday and I would need to come back, but it would be a quick fix. Then, as I was walking around inspecting the car, I noticed that the back tire had two nails in it. I mentioned this to man and he really didn't have a comment. The tire didn't have nails in it when I dropped it off. I took it to Discount Tire across the street, and they said it would have been flat after three weeks with that leak. Unfortunately, this experience has been a disappointment and I would not recommend the location to anyone.

I never leave reviews--this is a first. I don't like to give negative feedback. However, I do feel in this case that improvements need to made at this location. I actually felt bad for a lady who was dropping her car off at this location today while I was waiting for them to attach the emblems on my vehicle. I hope she has a better experience than I did. I can honestly say that I could not/would not recommend family, friends, or co-workers to this location based on my experience. I researched several collision repair shops in the area and went with Caliber due to their great reviews (at this particular location) and also due to the fact that I have used Caliber Auto on Northpark for repairs, oil changes, etc and have always been happy with their work.

The repair job took over a week longer than the original timeframe given, and I feel like if I had not called Caliber several times, it probably would have taken longer. I dropped my vehicle off on April 23 and was given a completion date of May 9. On May 9th I received a message from Angela that the vehicle was not ready due to not passing her inspection. A new date of May 13 was given. No other communication was received, so I called Caliber on May 13 when I got off work to check on picking up the vehicle. I was told that a there was a parking sensor that they did not realize needed to be fixed and when they put the vehicle back together there was a warning sign on the dash. So, they ordered a new part. A new completion date was given of 15 and I was told someone would call me. I did not receive a call, so, on the 15 I called when I got off work and was told by the GM that the tech who had worked on my car had quit on Monday. The tech apparently broke all of the clips on the panel that goes above the wheel and they had not realized it until putting the vehicle back together. They had to order the clips, but they should be in the next day and the vehicle would be completed. At this point the process was getting a little frustrating. I explained to the GM that I understood they were having some staffing issues, but this is costing me extra money due to having to pay for an extra week of car rental. Again I was told that someone would call me with an update the next day. Next day, nobody called. I called again after work. This time I was told by the front desk person that the wrong clips came in and they had to order the right clips, so the vehicle would not be ready (this was Friday, May 16). I was told that the GM was going to work that Saturday, May 17 from 10-12 so a handful of people could pick up their vehicles. She told me he would call me at 10:30 to let me know the vehicle was ready. I never received that call either. I tried to call, but no answer. I decided to head to Caliber anyway. I live 40 minutes away and didn't want to miss the opportunity to pick up my vehicle. There was someone at the shop when I arrived and he pulled my vehicle around. After he parked my vehicle I walked around to inspect the job and I noticed there were two nails in the back passenger tire. I mentioned this to the person who brought my vehicle out. He didn't really have a response. I had to drive across the street to Discount Tire, and they had to put a new tire on the vehicle due to the placement of one of the nails. There were no nails in the tire when I dropped it off. The tech at Discount Tire said if the nails had been in the tire when I dropped it off at Caliber three weeks ago, it would have definitely been flat by that time. Another minor issue was that the paint job on the passenger side of the liftgate was not entirely smooth. Like an edge drip. Only about 1 1/2 inches, but that does speak to the quality of the job. Also, when I initially picked up my vehicle, I noticed the Nissan emblem and the Armada tag were missing. Nobody had mentioned this prior to pickup. When I asked about these items (as I was inspecting the car), I was told they would be in on Monday and I could come back at my convenience--a quick fix. It was an inconvenience, so I finally had a chance to go after work today (I picked up my vehicle on May 18 and today is May 30) and the job was finally truly completed.

When I arrived to drop my car off (I scheduled a drop off time online first), there was no one in the front, so I followed the directions on the sign and rang the bell. I guy came out and I told him I was there to drop off my car. He said the person who usually works the front was out, but he could probably help me with that. He went to get Angela who had me fill out paperwork, she then went out to take a look at the vehicle and mark some things up, then I was off to get my rental. Communication and updates were ok up until May 9. I received my last update message on that day saying that the job did not pass inspection, so I could not pick it up that day, but it would be ready by May 13. For the next week, I did not receive any follow up messages or calls. I proactively called them for updates. Each time I called I was told that I would not have to call back--someone would contact me. That did not happen.

The employees were extremely sweet to me, they were very helpful and fast with their service. But I have complaints about the condition my car was given back to me. There were cans of spray paint left in my car, a few things were broken or left disconnected that I had to reconnect. My right side mirror was messed up. It was not off level when I dropped it off, but when I got it back, the mirror was off centered and I can’t see out of it by the angle it’s at. My front plate wasn’t put back on, which is small but it’s illegal in Texas to not have it on so I feel that should be included when putting the car back together. My alignment was fixed but when I first got it back it was still tugging very far to the right. Like at the point of jerking me into the curb. It’s become less severe now but that’s frustrating.

My vehicle some how accumulated 20 plus miles while at Caliber Collision which I find a little unusual to say the least. There is damage to the right front door handle that was not there before and paint is missing on the same door inside.
