Customer Service

The repairs seemed great at first, but I keep finding little issues that weren't fixed correctly or not addressed at all. Supplements were not submitted for paint repairs on the door of my car, only the rear quarter panel and trim, despite chips in the actual pain from the vehicle impact. The rear driver side tail light is still loose, and most importantly the fuel door was reinstalled upside down/backwards making it nearly impossible to fit most gas pumps into the compartment to fill up. These issues were brought up onsite and our account manager did his best to resolve the paint issues on the surface, but a supplement should have been submitted for the paint on the doors from the start, now the doors risk rusting and deteriorating prematurely because of these areas not being properly repaired. The fuel door was unnoticed until the first fill up after picking the vehicle up. Now additional time has to be wasted bringing the vehicle back to the shop to have the issue fixed. These are careless mistakes and really impacted my overall opinion and satisfaction with the repair center.

I had to come back over several days due to the key pad not working. That’s the only reason it is an 8/10 over all the service was great.

Customer Service

The front desk and manager were great.

I may still recommend. I would certainly explain my situation to them and let them know that Gerber is nationwide and offers a lifetime warranty on quality of work performed. But, I would make sure to check for any damages before leaving the service center.

Repair Quality

When I brought my vehicle to Gerber for an insurance claim involving a dent and minor gouge in the hood caused by flying debris, the manager came outside to assess the damage. I pointed out additional paint chips I believed were caused by the same debris, along with minor damage to the windshield wiper cowl. Without much discussion or inspection, he immediately said the additional chips were unrelated but offered to repair them at my expense. Since the hood was already being repaired, I agreed. The next day around 3 p.m., the manager called and said the additional cost would be higher because the hood had more paint issues than originally discussed. I told him the new price was too expensive and specifically asked him to stop and not perform any work until I decided how to proceed. He told me that, at that point, all they had done was remove the hood. I called again later that day and repeated my request that they not proceed with repairs while I spoke with my insurance company and another repair shop. The following morning around 10 a.m., I called again. The lady at the front desk was very nice and confirmed she had communicated my request before putting the manager on the phone. I again told him not to proceed, only to learn that the insurance portion of the hood repair had already been completed and the hood was in its final process. This was surprising considering that late the previous afternoon he had told me the only work performed was removing the hood. When I reminded him of our discussion, he explained they already had authorization from insurance to perform that portion of the repair. However, he acknowledged that despite my request to pause all repairs, they proceeded anyway. I expressed concern about how a repaired section would look compared with the older original paint. The manager told me the painter had gone the extra distance and sanded the entire top of the hood to do the job correctly. He said the hood looked very good and I would not be disappointed. He also told me that if he had to “eat” the extra cost, he would, because he wanted me to be happy with the finished product. He also reminded me that the repair carried a lifetime warranty. The following day at pickup, I acknowledged that the hood looked nice and initially had no complaints about its appearance. It seemed the manager was making an effort to rectify the situation. He also informed me that he had determined the windshield wiper cowl had indeed been damaged by the debris, as I had originally pointed out. The replacement had to be ordered, requiring a return visit. My biggest concern is the handling and communication surrounding the repair. Despite an implication that I would not incur additional costs beyond my deductible, I still paid more than $400 in additional charges. I also noticed minor orange peel in areas and pitting where the original paint chips had been. Also the OEM hood light was missing, its wiring was lying loose inside the engine compartment, and the retaining tabs that normally secure the wiring had been broken- from removing the hood I assume. I informed my insurance company that I did not want to return to this location. I then learned Gerber had already been paid for the replacement cowl. Since the part had not even arrived, my insurance company advised that a refund would be requested. That was approximately three weeks ago, and I have yet to receive a refund, nor has anyone from Gerber contacted me to address these issues.

Customer Service

refer to previous comment for answer to both questions - Quality of repairs and satisfaction with the customer service you received from the repair shop's personnel. Every employee I had an encounter with was polite and friendly. Even though some of the situations with this experience seemed a bit shady; the overall customer service was pretty satisfactory.

Expert work on my truck. Most impressive was the cordial receptionist who made me feel welcomed as did the gentleman providing the initial estimate. They provided timely estimates of when my vehicle would be ready and the progress on repair. They were very reasonable on the pricing and all eas said and done, I was glad I went to Gerber.

The staff members were polite, professional and knowledgeable. However, the dirty lining that was removed from somewhere on the vehicle was left on my back seat. Nothing I could not wipe off and throw away but workers should check to make sure they remove trash parts from the vehicle.
