"While the use of texts to keep us informed has its pros, it also has its cons. Multiple texts saying our vehicle would be ready created many hopeful expectations that were then dashed only a few moments later. The texts became a source of frustration rather than keeping us abreast of the repairs status.There were unforced errors like no one bothered to check if the part that came in from Ford was the part needed for our specific vehicle. Another point of irritation with the multiple delays was the almost cavalier and dismissive attitude of delays being just a part of the process. Because of the initial text that gave us the initial completion date we schedule our dogs surgery for the day after the initial date. Which we had to cancel and reschedule. Twice, due to texts moving the date. This repair took way longer, twice as long, if not a bit more, to complete. And our repair was not uber complicated. People have lives, we have others who depend upon us, perhaps, for the sake of your customers the people who do the texting and the mechanics should chat first. Multiple texts ping-ponging dates around only jerks around customers, who are already stressed out by the accident, insurance, and coping with life without their vehicle. Two days could have been recovered, if someone would have verified a part BEFORE texting and BEFORE it was given to the mechanic, only for it to be discovered as it was going to be placed. Lastly, we know it was USAAs policy to attempt to utilize used parts, however, they do not own the vehicle. We should have been asked if we were okay with used parts, and been given the chance to pay the difference. As luck would have it, the used part would not calibrate, so we had to wait for the new part to come in. A series of unforced errors, a lack of attention to detail, an inundation of inaccurate texts, led to a very long time without our vehicle that was very frustrating, and made a stressful that much more so. We cannot and will not recommend Gerber and should we ever have the misfortune of needing our vehicle repaired in the future Gerber will be the company of last resort." Read less
