Here's why. I am torn, they did a great job repairing my car. Kept me up to date throughout the process, and we're very quick doing so. It was just a fender, with minor damage. Here is my issue. On the morning of the accident In which I damaged my right front fender I had just filled my tank up, all the way. Had the accident, and as I was coming home I turned right and heard some grinding on the right hand front side like my tire was rubbing up against something. So not wanting to take any chance of damaging the tire. I drove it home that morning parked in the garage where it stayed from March 14th until July 17 which was the day I took it to Gerbers to have the damage evaluated. Left Gerbers that day and back in the garage with the car. Didn't drive it again till July 22nd when I took it there to get fixed and from my house to Gerber's is approximately four miles which is nothing when you have a Honda that gets upwards of 31 miles per gallon in the city. I even remember on that Wednesday morning on the 22nd when I went to take it down there saying to myself, "Wow I still got a full tank of gas. That's good. That'll help out a lot when I get it back." Not having to fill it up for a while that is. So today, July 30 they called me and said my car was ready. Only one week and one day after dropping it off. Not bad. Once the car was returned to me, I got in it and drove down the road to turn around (because there is a median on Main St.) so I could head back the other direction and I got about halfway home when I looked down at my gas gauge and it said a little bit less than half of a tank. I was mortified. I looked at the paperwork and it showed the mileage before when I dropped it off being 56099. When I went to pick it up it was 56111 so during the process of repairing it they drove it 12 miles. Which in itself is kind of strange because if it was just the right front fender why would it have to have been driven 12 miles? My once full tank was now a little bit less than 1/2 full. It has a 13 gallon tank so half a tank at minimum is 6.5 gallons. At 31 MPG in the city 12 miles is not going to cause the tank to be more than half empty. And right now I feel as though I really have no leg to stand because I can't prove it was full when I took it there. Even though I know in my heart it was, but I have no physical proof. No one takes a picture of their fuel gauge before dropping off their car at a garage. Well not till now. Thank God I took all my personal belongings out of the car before dropping it off. It's just very disturbing and with the price of gas these days not surprising somebody would siphon gas out of my tank. I mean that's the only logical explanation. How else would it lose so much gas only going 12 miles. I can't believe this happened when I took my car to get repaired. I'm sure it's not a company policy and it could perhaps be a rogue employee who decided to help themselves to my full gas tank. Either way I truly feel violated, and all the good things they did for me now mean nothing and I will never look at them the same again. That's what hurts the most, because they really did do a good job repairing my car. I am discombobulated to say the least about the whole experience.
