(posted on Yelp) I am so fortunate that I found Chilton Auto Body Berkeley. I recently had my car repaired by a shop that failed to secure the plastic guard under the car, and it came off on the freeway, causing a major safety hazard and damage to my car. CARSTAR works with my insurance and were convenient, but they didn't have many reviews so I was apprehensive. But I called anyway to get a sense of the shop because I needed to fix my car ASAP--the previous shop had kept the car for close to 3 weeks, which was 2 weeks beyond what they had originally told me--and I needed to be able to use my car. Ronsendo was professional and easy to work with right from the start. He communicated clearly and quickly, was thoughtful and prompt in our correspondence, and explained the issue and the process thoroughly. I took my car in, as scheduled, and the repair was done on time (early, in fact). Rosendo explained what he had found. I got the clear sense that the technicians at the shop know what they are doing and take pride in their work, and really care about their customers. Rosendo went out of his way to not just complete the work but to do it carefully. When I got back, my car was cleaner than it had been in years. The shop had also dusted inside the car, wiping away debris that the previous shop had left on my car. They cleaned my tires too. Everything was so noticeably done with care that, even beyond professionalism, I felt like I had been treated really well, by people who care about doing their job well, pay attention to detail, and have pride in their work. I recommend this shop--it's the best I have found in Oakland/Berkeley.

I would definitely recommend a shop to everybody. They were far better than every other shop I’ve ever been to it was an uplifting and amazing experience.

Take care for customers by the staff, cleaning and vacuuming the car when it was done, always giving timely updates, going over and above to take care of everything, this was definitely the best experience I’ve had with a body shop or any automobile shop.

The quality of the work wasn't great (sand in the paint, fish eye). My car was then stolen and nobody from the shop bothered to car me. My car was recovered with $20k in damage.
