Dropped the vehicle back off this morning as the hood is misaligned and the vehicle still pulls to the right. And my windshield washer doesn’t work intermittently, and the headlights needed proper adjustment.

Customer Service

Very polite and prompt.

We were very satisfied with both estimates and the work that was required. As things changed during the repairs we were always informed of progress and explanations giving choices for best results. The car came back to us cleaned and fully operational. Gerber will be suggested to anyone needing professional and knowledgeable staff and technicians. Very good care during a stressful period. We thank all people we delt with. Richard

The actual repair looks good. Great even. So based on the work that was done I would have rated a 10. However, there are a few things that were strange to me…not deal breakers, but just things that would have made my overall experience better. 1. I was called on Friday afternoon and told my car was ready for pickup. I indicated that I needed to wait until 4 for my ride to get home and that I would be there between 4 and 5. It was snowing that day. When I got there my car was parked out front in the snow. It would have been nice if my car was in the garage, in and away from the elements. 2. When I got in my car to leave, there was snow on the floor of my car, near the gas and break pedals. Obviously this came from the person who parked my car in the front. Many places will use some sort of paper to protect floor mats. I take pride in my car and was a little disappointed in seeing that the snow was there and there was no attempt to clean it up. 3. For some reason, the driver side seat was moved way back and the angle of the seat back was much different from where I normally keep it. It is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but I found this to be incredibly rude and intrusive. Whomever moved my car is obviously a large person, but for there to be no effort on their part to return my seat to where I keep it is disappointing. Again in the grand scheme of things, not a huge deal, but that situation, to me, reflects a situation where the customer is not put first. 4. The rear view mirror was also adjusted from my normal position. This seems like something that was not needed. 5. For some reason, the front passenger seat was reclined to about 45 degrees. Based on the repairs that were needed, I don’t understand why anyone was even in the passenger seat. 6. My auto headlights were turned off. I have owned the car for over 6 years. On day one of owning it, I turned the auto headlights on and never thought about my headlights again. I drove my car home on Friday about 430. I did not drive anymore that night. On Saturday I took my wife to dinner in Orland Park. I took Renwick/159th most the way. It wasn’t until I pulled into the parking spot at the restaurant, after 45 minutes of driving, that I noticed that my headlights seemed dimmer than normal. I looked down, found where to switch the lights function and saw that they were in the off position. Why on earth would anyone move my headlights from auto to off? My repair was to the lower back bumper. If there was a reason to turn the lights off, then someone should have turned them back on. Again, very intrusive, but also incredibly negligent. What if on my way to Orland Park another car hit me because my running lights were not enough for them to see ? Very disappointing. 7. I have a trailer hitch on my car, and a few summers ago I put in the wiring to plug into trailers so brake lights work. I must have had some clips or something to hold the wiring to the inside of the bumper. When I got the Gerber on Friday to pick up my car, I looked at the bumper and it looked good. I did not see anything out of place. However, when I got home, 1.5 miles from Gerber, I noticed that the wires were hanging down. Obviously they were just pushed up into the back of the bumper and not secured at all. I dont expect that Gerber should have to come up with the same clip that was used on the bumper that was replaced , but I do think they have a responsibility to tell me.

Customer Service

Ran out of characters from the first question. Continuing my answer: I think Gerber should have at the very least told me that I would need to secure the wires. To be completely honest, I do not feel confident that the wiring works anymore. With the blatant disregard for my property, I can imagine that when the old bumper was taken off, that the wires were somehow yanked out of place. I don’t own a trailer so I cannot know for sure, but now, because of this, I will need to take time out of one of my days to go to a trailer rental facility and ask them to plug one of their trailers in so I can verify. I have an expectation when I go to a business. If I need a repair, my expectation is that the repair is done and my property is returned in the exact (or nearly exact) same condition when it was turned over. This did not happen. Most of the things I cited are small, but enough small things strung together makes it big. I truly hope that the wiring that was hanging down is still in working order. But the fact that I even have to worry about this really stinks. I am not going to go on social media and bash Gerber for anything. I don’t think anything was intentional, but it would be great if someone from Gerber would reach out to talk to me about some of my concerns. And I hope they use this feedback to improve their customer interactions going forward.
