He'd been in his own accident, a year before mine, and I was in New York City when it happened, too far away to do anything but worry. Richard Porcelli did what I couldn't. He sent a tow truck. He took my son under his wing the way a parent would, calmed him down, sat with him through one of the worst days of his life. I wasn't there for that. Richard was.
